Apple – they put the fun in mobile apps, didn’t they? They sort of dominate everything we know and love about our mobile devices. Steve Jobs revolutionized the information and communication landscape. So much so that people are naming their babies after this company/ fruit, and I suspect “Steve” or a derivative thereof will likely be on the most popular baby names list this year. Why not – the names spark the imaginations of innovators in the communication field from one end of this big round ball to the other.
I recently purchased a new phone. My co-worker Brian says I am in the “honeymoon phase” with my phone, downloading apps, ringtones, and wallpapers galore. I admit I’m going a little overboard capturing and catching up with as much information as I can with my new toy – my Android. One of the perks of working for a software firm is you get their app for free, so of course I had to have it too. It’s our expense mangement mobile app and it’s one of my favorites (right up there with Angry Birds).
My boss travels constantly and our mobile expense management software has proven invaluable when he needs to approve our expense reports on the go. I got an email at 5 am saying my expense report had been approved. He must have been on the red-eye…
Our customers love it too. It’s easy to install and gets them creating and approving expense tasks in as little as 15 minutes. Our developer Jimmy Carroll and UI designer, Christopher Layne are geniuses at making the application simple, bright and intuitive. I recently interviewed Jimmy to develop a quick start guide for our clients. Honestly, it took him about 10 minutes to show me around the app and get me up to speed. Although I was familiar with the Expense Management desktop app, I was a little intimidated with mobile technology in general. I hadn’t purchased my Android yet, and am embarrassed to admit I didn’t even know how to find the app on the phone he left with me!
Apple is counting down a milestone in app downloads right now on their home page. It’s almost at 25 billion. Yep you heard me right – BILLION! We can all agree that’s an impressive number and we all want, need, crave the latest app. I’m right there with everyone in the 21st century now. It’s making my life easier, less boring, and my little Geico piggy ringtone makes everyone laugh! So this writer says download apps to your little heart’s content. After all, an app a day might be good for that heart! We here at Apptricity think it’s also good for business – your business!
