Irving, TX Ranked Third in the U.S. for Tech Start-Ups
In 1999, Apptricity got its start in Irving, Texas, and now the city has been named one of the top cities in the United States for technology start-ups. As the first city outside of Silicon Valley to make the ranking (Fremont and San Jose took the top two spots), Irving topped its Texas tech rival Austin, which was ranked 5th overall.
This week, Dallas/Fort Worth’s local Channel 5 news visited Apptricity to speak with CEO and President Tim Garcia, who summed up what has helped make Apptricity successful: "From an enterprise all the way down to a smart phone, our technology allows you to basically pass information. That can be e-procurement information or it can be supply chain management information."
According to NBC 5 News, Irving has created or retained 12,000 jobs in the last 2 years and its unemployment, at 6.3%, is a full two points below the national average.
